Tequila Social

RENO, NV. August, 30 2019 - Future Kind Presents, Tequila Social! A fun night of tequila tasting where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a select variety of tequilas such as blanco, reposado, añejo, and extra añejo!

Future Kind is a Reno, NV based international non-profit dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and equality as a means to create strong communities in harmony with themselves and the environment.

This edition of the Tequila Social will be to benefit of Future Kind programs with the Ache Community in Naranjal, Paraguay. The Ache is an ethnicity native of eastern Paraguay, and are the original inhabitants of the area. They are hunters and gatherers who were living mainly off the land, and in harmony with nature. Until 40 years ago, when the Paraguayan dictatorship displaced them of their land, and committed genocide agaist the Ache people. Their forest now has been almost entirely cut down to make room for modern agriculture and soybean fields.

The Ache are struggling to survive and their culture quickly disappearing. Their ancestral knowledge about the land, and how to live in harmony with nature is also disappearing with them. In an effort to help the Ache adapt to the new world they find themselves in, Future Kind is working with Ache leaders to provide them with basic health care, food assistance and educational opportunities.

Future Kind is working with the Ache to preserve their culture and as part of this effort, we will be auctioning an original bow and arrow handmade by an Ache elder. This antique hunting tool is now mostly an art form because of deforestation, and is an art they are quickly losing.
